Shorter University is responding to the needs and demands for health care professionals by adding a nursing program to its list of strong academic programs. Registered Nurses constitute the largest healthcare occupation, with 2.4 million jobs and the demand for nurses (RNs) has never been greater. The nursing shortage is predicted to intensify as baby boomers age and the need for health care grows.
As Dean of the School of Nursing at Shorter University, I look forward to meeting prospective students, families and friends in the community. The faculty, staff and administration enthusiastically support the continued cultivation of a nursing program dedicated to excellence in education, coupled with a Christ-centered learning environment.
Our accredited nursing program provides students with a unique learning environment focused on meeting identified professional and personal goals. The BSN program offers 5 semesters of full time study, including a required international study abroad. Obviously, for many students, this is a life changing opportunity during their Shorter University Nursing education.
We would be delighted to have the opportunity to meet with you and answer any questions that you may have about “Nursing on the Hill.” Shorter University hosts several events throughout the year, inviting students to visit the campus, meet with prospective faculty and other students in similar areas of interest.
In addition, the School of Nursing provides opportunities for prospective students to shadow upper class nursing students, experience lectures, lab simulation skills, and participate in service learning programs with other students. Please follow up with our office should you have any additional questions or like to schedule a visit.
Best wishes as you pursue nursing excellence. We look forward to seeing you at Shorter University!
